Custom Web App Development — MAGNITUDE STUDIO, LOS ANGELES

Custom Web App Development in Los Angeles

Spreadsheets, shared drives, and a stack of SaaS tools held together with exports and email — most operations outgrow their software long before they replace it. We build custom web applications that do what those tools can’t: dashboards, client portals, marketplaces, internal systems, full SaaS products. Designed and coded in-house, front end to infrastructure.

Why custom, and why now

Off-the-shelf software makes you work its way. A custom web app works yours: the screens match your process, the data model matches your business, and nothing you pay for sits idle. It replaces the spreadsheet only one person understands, the SaaS tool you use a tenth of, the copy-paste ritual between systems that don’t talk. One codebase, built for the job, owned by you.

Built around the workflow

We map how the work actually moves — who enters what, who approves it, where it goes — and build the app to match. No bending your process to fit someone else’s template.

One team, whole stack

The same people design the interface, write the API, and set up the servers. Nothing gets lost in a handoff because there isn’t one.

Room to grow

We architect for the version after this one. New roles, new modules, ten times the data — additions, not rewrites.

How a web app gets built

01

Discovery & functional spec

We sit with the people who do the work and map it. The output is a functional spec: every screen, every user role, every rule the system enforces — agreed in writing before anything gets built.

02

Design & prototype

Wireframes first, then full interface design. You click through the product before a line of production code exists, so changes happen where they’re cheap.

03

Build, front to back

Front end and backend developed in parallel — the interface your team sees, the API and database underneath it. Working software lands on a staging site early and often.

04

Integrate & test

We wire the app into the tools you keep — payments, CRM, accounting, email — then test with real data and real users before anyone depends on it.

05

Launch & handoff

Deployment into your own cloud accounts, monitoring in place, documentation written. You get the code, the keys, and a team that answers when you want changes.

What a project includes

Discovery & Functional Spec

A written spec covering screens, roles, data, and rules. It’s the blueprint for the build — and the document that keeps scope honest.

Front-End Development

Fast, responsive interfaces your team can live in all day without friction. Built with modern frameworks, tested on the browsers and devices you actually use.

Backend API & Database

The engine under the interface: a documented API, a data model shaped to your business, and queries tuned so the app stays quick as the records pile up.

Third-Party Integrations

Stripe, QuickBooks, your CRM, your email platform — the app connects to the tools you keep instead of forcing you to replace everything at once.

Cloud Infrastructure & DevOps

Hosting set up in your own accounts, automated deployments, backups, and monitoring — so releases are routine and problems get caught before your team notices.

Documentation & Handoff

Technical docs for the next developer and plain-English guides for your team. If you ever leave us, you leave with everything.

The stack

No house framework forced onto every project. We pick tools that fit the product — these are the ones that earn their place most often.

Front end

  • React
  • Next.js
  • TypeScript
  • Vite
  • Tailwind CSS

Backend & data

  • Node.js
  • PostgreSQL
  • Redis
  • REST & GraphQL APIs
  • Prisma

Infrastructure

  • AWS
  • Vercel
  • Cloudflare
  • Docker
  • CI/CD pipelines
  • Monitoring & alerting

Shipped, not staged

EVNTBL and PRELLEX are two of the four products we’ve shipped — both built for the browser from day one. EVNTBL is a marketplace connecting event hosts and guests; PRELLEX is an AI co-pilot handling records, billing, and case management for solo and small-firm attorneys. Both were designed and coded entirely by us — the rest are in the portfolio.

Bring the idea. Leave with the build plan.

Questions we hear

I have an idea but I’m not sure what to build first. Can you help?
That’s what discovery is for. We map the workflow, find the point where software helps most, and spec the smallest version that proves it — the core loop, nothing decorative. You end up with a functional spec you could take anywhere — most useful if you build it with the team that wrote it.
What’s the difference between a web app and a website?
A website presents: pages people read, built to inform and convert. A web app works: users log in, create data, and get things done. If you need a marketing site, that’s our website design and development service. If people will sign in and use it as a tool, you’re on the right page.
How long does a custom web app take?
It depends on scope. A focused MVP moves fastest; a multi-role platform takes longer. What we don’t do is guess — at the consultation we scope the build and lock a written timeline before work starts.
Who owns the code?
You do. Source code, cloud accounts, domains, and infrastructure are set up in your name and handed over in full. The product is yours, not rented from us.
Can you integrate with the tools we already use?
Yes — and usually we should. Payments, CRM, accounting, email, calendars: if it has an API, your app can talk to it. Where a tool has no API, we look at imports, exports, and automation to bridge the gap.

Replace the duct tape

Magnitude is how scientists measure what gets felt. So do we.

If your operation runs on tools it has outgrown, the fix is software built for it. Tell us what the spreadsheets are hiding — we’ll tell you what we’d build first, and put the fee and timeline in writing before anything starts.
